- Want one layer back? Turn on just that option, such as notes lines, and everything else stays empty.
✏️ Good uses for an empty February sheet
- Hand-written schedules: shifts, tutoring slots, workout plans or meal prep, added in pen.
- Class and team charts: print several copies and colour-code them by group or person.
- Local dates: pencil in school closures, exam days or regional holidays that the country lists do not cover.
- Light on ink: with shading and icons off, the page prints quickly and cheaply.

How February Ended Up Short, Late and Strange
Other months were simply added to the calendar. February was renamed, moved and trimmed along the way. This is how it reached second place with 28 days.
A month named for cleansing
The name goes back to februa, the Latin word for purification rites. Romans held ceremonies of cleansing and remembrance in the last weeks of winter, and the month that hosted them took its name from the custom.
Lupercalia lands mid-month
The middle of the month brought Lupercalia, an ancient festival with ritual runs around the Palatine hill. Its connection to Valentine’s Day is a popular idea but a disputed one; the romantic tradition is generally seen as a much later, medieval development.
February moves from last place to second
Roman tradition holds that the early year ended in February. Ovid and later writers say the decemvirs reordered the months so that February followed January, producing the sequence we still use. The date is traditional rather than firmly documented.
Caesar’s leap day is placed in February
Julius Caesar’s reform fixed February at 28 days and added a repeated day every fourth year. The Romans did not invent a 29th; they counted 24 February twice. That doubled day was called bissextile, which is why the word survives as an old term for a leap year.
The Gregorian bull is issued
Pope Gregory XIII issued Inter gravissimas on 24 February 1582, introducing the calendar most of the world now follows. It refined the leap-year rule so century years count only when divisible by 400, and it left February’s 28 or 29 days exactly as they were.
Where February 2027 Sits in Other Calendars
The page above counts 28 Gregorian days, but the same weeks also sit inside very different systems. Here is where February 2027 lands in six of them.
Gregorian Calendar
Solar · 365/366 days
February 2027 is one of the standard 28-day Februaries. The next 29-day one arrives in 2028, so the Gregorian year stays at 365 days until then.
Julian Calendar
Solar · 365.25-day average
Several Orthodox churches still date their feasts by the Julian reckoning, which now runs 13 days behind. February 1, 2027 in the Gregorian calendar is January 19 in the Julian one.
Islamic (Hijri) Calendar
Lunar · 354/355 days
Ramadan 1448 AH is expected to begin around February 8, 2027, roughly ten days earlier than in 2026. Every month starts with a sighted crescent, so start dates can differ by a day between countries.
Chinese Calendar
Lunisolar · 353–385 days
Lunar New Year opens on the new moon of February 6, 2027 and begins the Year of the Goat. The festival can fall anywhere from about January 21 to February 20, which is why February so often hosts it.
Hebrew Calendar
Lunisolar · 353–385 days
The Hebrew year 5787 is a leap year with a thirteenth month: Adar is split into Adar I and Adar II. That extra month pushes Purim to March 23, later than in an ordinary year.
Hindu Calendar
Lunisolar · varies by tradition
In February 2027 many regional calendars are in the month of Magha. Vasant Panchami on February 11 welcomes spring, and Magh Purnima on February 20 marks the full moon that closes the month.
Why February Is the Only Month That Changes Length
2027 is a common year, so February stays at 28 days, the shortest a month can be. The extra day appears only in leap years, and the next one is Tuesday, February 29, 2028, exactly 393 days after February 1, 2027.
📅 February 2027
Four complete Monday-to-Sunday weeks. Each weekday occurs exactly four times, which makes the month easy to split into weekly targets or equal shifts.
🐸 February 2028
The added day is a Tuesday, which gives that month five Tuesdays. Leap years are how the calendar keeps pace with Earth’s orbit of about 365.24 days.
The next four leap days
Four years add up to 208 weeks plus five days, so each leap day falls two weekdays earlier than the one before it. The pattern breaks at 2100, which will skip its leap day because it is a century year not divisible by 400.
Printing February 2027 Cleanly
A few settings decide whether the page comes out crisp and wall-ready or cropped and soft.
🖨️ Print in five steps
- Set the paper size first (A4, Letter or A3) in the builder, so the grid is drawn for that sheet from the start.
- Pick Monday as the first day if you want the tallest boxes. February 2027 then needs only four rows, while a Sunday start adds a fifth and shortens every box a little.
- Save the PDF and open it in a browser or PDF reader.
- Open the print dialog with Ctrl + P (Windows) or ⌘ + P (Mac), choose Fit to page and match the orientation you designed.
- Check the preview once more; avoid Actual size if you changed paper after exporting.
💡 Extra pointers
- Hanging it on a wall? Choose A3, which keeps the 28-day grid sharp at poster scale.
- To save ink, use a lighter accent, turn weekend shading off, or switch on Blank Calendar.
- Planning to write with markers or highlighters? 120–160 gsm paper resists bleed-through.
- PNG works well as a phone wallpaper or chat image; PDF is the safer choice for a printer or print shop.
- Sharing with a group? Print two copies, one to keep and one to hand around, so nobody has to redraw the dates.

February Trivia Worth Knowing
Nine short facts about the shortest month, checked against the calendar and the history books.
The name comes from the Latin Februarius, tied to februa, the Roman purification rites, and to the festival of Februalia.
February is the only month with fewer than 30 days. It has 28 in a common year and 29 in a leap year.
February 2027 begins on a Monday and ends on a Sunday, so it holds exactly four full weeks. That happens when a common year’s February 1 is a Monday: last in 2021, next in 2038.
Because 28 divides evenly by seven, each weekday appears four times this month. There are 20 weekdays and 8 weekend days.
Sweden once had a February 30. In 1712 the country added a second leap day while switching between calendars, a date found in no other national calendar.
The Anglo-Saxon monk Bede recorded an Old English name for February, Solmonath, which he explained as the “month of cakes” offered to the gods.
February’s birthstone is the amethyst, and its birth flowers are the violet and the primrose (the iris is also listed in some traditions).
The zodiac changes mid-month: Aquarius covers the first weeks and Pisces begins around February 18 or 19, depending on the year.
The February 6 new moon brings both Lunar New Year and an annular solar eclipse, and the February 20 full moon comes with a penumbral lunar eclipse.
February Myths, Sorted Out
A few widely repeated February claims turn out to be shakier than they sound.
Augustus took a day from February to make August longer.
It is a popular story, but most historians treat it as a later legend. Roman calendar evidence suggests the month lengths were already close to today’s after Caesar’s reform, and February was not shortened to pay for August.
Valentine’s Day has always been about romance.
The day began as a religious commemoration of a saint. Its link with courtly love grew in medieval literature, especially poetry from the 1300s, and older claims tying it directly to Lupercalia are disputed.
Groundhog Day is a reliable long-range weather forecast.
Published tallies of Punxsutawney Phil’s predictions put his hit rate at roughly four in ten, which is no better than guessing. The tradition is best enjoyed as folklore, which dates back to 1887 in Pennsylvania.
Lunar New Year is always on the same date.
It follows the moon, so it moves. The festival can land anywhere from about January 21 to February 20, and in 2027 it falls on Saturday, February 6.
Someone born on February 29 only has a birthday every four years.
They have a birthday every year; only the date is missing. Many places treat February 28 or March 1 as the legal anniversary, and the rule differs by country. Roughly one person in 1,461 is born on a leap day.
